Miss Behaved Album Art
This album was created to reflect the style, character, and era of Art Chantry. The use of nostalgic photographs of beauty queens inspired the title of Miss Behaved, as Chantry is known to have a reckless and crass spirit. The name of the Band, Tacoma Ink. references Tacoma, WA where he found his design style as well as the double reference of Ink. Chantry was very outspoken about the belief that traditional corporations, education, and careers suppressed creative liberties. The use of yellow and magenta reflects the same bold ink colors he used in his works as well. I found it appropriate to hand letter the title of this album, as much of the work that Chantry did was done by hand. This is also seen on the backside where the type is placed in boxes, as if it were cut and pasted. 2017 is the year that he was awarded his AIGA medal for his unconventional low tech approach to design. Chantry has a grit, grunge, and irony to his work, and I believe that my album artwork reflects the same.
